WSLA 8th Annual Golf Tournament: A Swing to Remember

Mark it down as one for the books — the 8th Annual Winchendon Springs Lake Association Golf Tournament teed off on September 12th at Westminster Golf Club, and Mother Nature clearly RSVP'd yes. We couldn't have ordered a more perfect bluebird day if we'd tried, with temps climbing into the high 70s and not a cloud to complain about.

Twenty-seven foursomes hit the course for a day of friendly competition, good company, and (let's be honest) a few questionable shots into the woods. But the real star of the show this year was brand new: the Putting Contest!

Here's how it worked — 78 golfers stepped up for three shots at a nerve-wracking 15-foot putt, all chasing a shot at the $5,000 grand prize and the 50/50 raffle. Sixteen golfers sank their putt and advanced to round two, but only one golfer kept the magic going: Kyle Peralta, who drained the second putt and punched his ticket to the finals.

The final challenge? A monster 50-foot putt for all the marbles. Kyle's ball tracked beautifully... and just slid by the cup at the last second. So close we were all holding our breath! Even better — Kyle turned around and donated his 50/50 winnings right back to WSLA. Talk about a class act.

After a day full of birdies, bunkers, and probably a lost ball or two, everyone gathered for a well-earned meal to cap off the tournament.

None of this happens without the incredible support of our WSLA board members, sponsors, and volunteers. A special shout-out to TJ Fluharty for keeping golfers hydrated with donated bottled water, and to Cindy Kendall and Lin Anderson for donating the scratch tree.

Save the Date!

Next year's tournament returns to Westminster Golf Club on Saturday, September 11th. Start practicing that putt — the $5,000 prize is still out there waiting!

Hope to see you on the course!
